Jim was our featured Language Superstar for November, 2018. He was 13 years old and had been using a speech generating device (SGD) with first Unity, then LAMP Words for Life, language systems since 2010. He was also able to use a version of Word Power. When he was re-evaluated at VOICE AAC Center in 2018, we found the best system match was an Accent 800 with LAMP Words for Life 84 Full. In our evaluation at VOICE AAC Center, we found that Jim was able to independently sequence up to 12 cells to generate 6 word messages and to activate two function keys. He was 100% accurate and independent at generating all sequences. Although he did well with several language systems, he was most fluent with the LAMP WFL language system.
Jim was becoming a generative language user and for that reason, we were very pleased to feature him as our Language Superstar for November, 2018. Many thanks to Jim and to his family for allowing us to feature him.
